Victim hospitalized for gunshot wound after altercation near Easton Ave
He sustained non-life threatening injuries
A male victim was transported to a local hospital earlier this morning after being shot during an altercation at around 2am. The incident took place on Hamilton Street between Union St and Easton Ave.
According to a crime alert issued by the Rutgers University Police Department at roughly 4am, the victim reported that he was involved "in an altercation with another male who displayed a handgun. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body during the altercation. The suspect then fled on Hamilton Street towards Easton Avenue."
The victim is not affiliated with the university, and descriptions of the suspect are limited and have not been released.
