Sexual assault reported at Mettler Hall

It took place on the afternoon of Friday the 13th

The Rutgers University Police Department released a email on Monday evening reporting that a Rutgers student had been sexually assaulted in her dorm at Mettler Hall on College Ave over the weekend. The email states that the assault took place at around 4:30pm on Friday October 13th.

The email reads:

In this incident the victim, who is affiliated, reported that while sitting in her residence hall room with the door open, an unknown male entered the room and began to kiss her while also touching her chest and groin over her clothing. The victim reported that she was able to distance herself from the male and demand that he leave the area. The male then complied and left in an unknown direction. There were no physical injuries as a result of this incident.

Descriptions are limited at this time. The perpetrator is described as a thin, college aged white male, with blonde hair.

The Rutgers Police Department asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, to contact the Rutgers Police Department Detective Bureau at 848-932-8025.

This assault took place only one day after former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden came to give his It's On Us speech which focused on sexual assaults on campus.

We will be updating the story as more information becomes available.
