Rutgers student’s new app earns him invite to huge tech conference

Some of the notable attendees include Google, Facebook and Amazon

Rutgers senior Ajay Puri, who recently launched his new app “ShapeMeUp,” has been invited to Collision, a technology conference in New Orleans. Collision is considered one of “America’s fastest growing tech conference,” and hosts tech giants like Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Amazon.

“I was in shock because it is one of the largest tech conferences in the world and only ten percent of startups get into the program,” Puri said.

In four years, the conference has grown to over 20,000 attendees, including CEOs from some of the world’s largest companies and fast growing startups, as well as leading investors.

“My team and I are working hard every day to make sure we get all of the work done by then,” said Puri. “Our tasks include preparing presentations, a solid business, MVP for the app, and continuously working alongside the developers to make sure we are getting the results we want.”

Puri’s ticket to the tech conference includes entry to Collision for all three days, access to networking events with top startups and investors, and access to to the speaker’s lounge.

“Being part of such an enormous well-esteemed tech conference is a huge success in and of itself. I get the opportunity to speak with and learn from many successful entrepreneurs, CEOs, celebrities, and investors, and that is just mind blowing.”

Puri and his team will also have the opportunity to gain some serious exposure from over 1,200 media outlets from over 100 countries, including some of the world’s leading media companies such as BBC, CNBC, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Forbes, Business Insider and much more.

“If even one out of the 20,000 attendees finds our idea to be revolutionary, I would consider us successful,” Puri said.

This will be a great opportunity for “ShapeMeUp” to become a lucrative startup and another product of a Rutgers University graduate, as Puri hopes to make his fellow students proud.

“It has been an amazing experience to have had the backing and support from Rutgers,” said Puri, “Not everyday are we encouraged to go after our ideas and dreams.”
