A man was killed after an attempted robbery on Hamilton street early this morning

He was assaulted with ‘a sharp object’

A man was killed this morning after a robbery attempt turned violent in New Brunswick in the early hours of this morning.

It happened around 2:30 a.m on Hamilton Street between Woodbridge and Bridge Streets.  The victim, who was not associated with the university, was approached by two to three males who demanded personal property. According to NBPD, there was a physical altercation and the victim was assaulted with “a sharp object”. The victim was treated on the scene by first responders but died from his injuries.

In a separate incident, also this morning, there was a shooting at 1:20 a.m. on Church Street and Spring Street. Two people, who were unaffiliated with the university, sustained non-life-threatening gun shot wounds and are being treated at a local hospital.

An off-campus crime alert was sent out to students at around 9 a.m. detailing of two incidents that occurred this morning. Detail of the perpetrator is limited at the moment.
