Possible human remains found at Rutgers Newark construction site

The fragments are possibly human remains from an old church site

Rutgers has not just been revolutionary for 250 years. It has been transforming its infrastructure in huge ways throughout its history as well. Just last year it inaugurated brand new academic and residential buildings, as well as introduced state of the art athletic facilities at the New Brunswick campus. And as of recently, the university has been working on expanding these advancements to its other campuses – like the new Honors Living-Learning community building on the Newark campus.

However, plans for further construction of this building were haulted when workers found something extremely out of the ordinary. During the digging at the site, several members of the construction crew found what appears to be possible human remains. The fragments were found during a “due-diligence period of study” at the location. Having previously belonged to a church that was shut down in 1940, this construction site turned out to be more revolutionary that Rutgers could have ever imagined.

Resurrected 65 years after it’s demolishion, Rutgers officials announced that a team of archaeologists will study both the site and the fragmented body parts that have been unearthed. The university further added that “at the end of their study, they will present us with their conclusions and a proposed course of action that follows the state-accepted protocols for circumstances such as these.” The construction is yet to begin on the building, but officials at the university believe that the current situation won’t affect their scheduled plan.
