BREAKING: NJ legend Steven Van Zandt of the E Street Band is the 2017 commencement speaker

This afternoon The Rutgers Board of Governors announced that Steven Van Zandt, actor and member of Bruce Springsteen’s E-Street band, will be this year’s commencement speaker.
The long time New Jersey native and human rights activist, known for his role as Silvio Dante in ‘The Sopranos’, will also receive an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts at the May 14 ceremony at High Point Solutions Stadium.
It was stated by university President Robert Barchi that Van Zandt was secured as this year’s speaker last spring after he became the number one choice of a committee of students and faculty.
