NJIT student fatally shot at fraternity house

It happened this morning at the Tau Kappa Epsilon house

Joseph Micalizzi was shot during a robbery at the Tau Kappa Epsilon house at around 3:30 a.m on Monday, according to nydailynews.com.

He lived in the frat house alongside his brothers near Newark campus.

Police have no suspect and there are no arrests. The school stated that there is “no imminent threat” to the campus. The school is offering a $10,000 reward for any information of the shooter.

It was Micalizzi’s second year at NJIT studying mechanical engineering  after transferring from Brookdale Community College. According to the school, he was on the dean’s list. One frat member said, “He was very involved in his studies, very involved in the community of Greek life.”

His father, John Micalizzi, told The Daily News, “I don’t know of anyone who did not like him.”

Joseph was 23, and was taking his finals, with the intention of going into management after he graduated. His TKE brothers have changed their Facebook profile pictures to the chapter’s logo Monday in a show of solidarity for their fallen brother

This comes just three weeks after Rutgers student was Shani Patel was shot and killed inside his apartment on April 10.
