Obama speaking at commencement causes tension between New Brunswick and Newark/Camden students

They don’t even go here

With President Barack Obama paying a visit to good ol’ Rutgers New Brunswick, complications were bound to arise. Since High Point Solutions Stadium only holds 52,454 people, there has been a massive issue with leaving graduation open to everyone. Barchi recently sent out an email inviting select students from Camden and Newark to attend graduation (although, it’s not clear what that selection process would be based on), and also explained that the whole graduation would be live streamed at certain places on campus. Naturally, several students from New Brunswick posted a few “hell no’s” in the Rutgers Facebook groups when they realized the stadium might not be able to hold their family and friends if Camden and Newark students were invited. However, Camden and Newark students aren’t going down without a fight. Here are some snapshots of some of the inevitable bickering that took place on social media:

It still remains unclear as to how tickets will be distributed for this year’s 250th graduation ceremony. Stay tuned.
