All the things you can do instead of studying for midterms

Binge watch everything

It’s midterm season: that time of year when you’re  50% done with the semester, but 100% fed up with all your professors and assignments. Sure, sleeping it off can help, but here are all the fun ways you can escape studying for those exams.

Learn a song on that instrument you’ve been trying to learn how to play

What’s better than not being productive? Being productive in some other way. Learn “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and how to tune your guitar all at once. Just don’t rip the strings and expect amazing results in an hour. This will take days. The perfect amount of time to stray away from all your test anxieties.

Take Buzzfeed quizzes

I love learning what kind of fruit I am. The quizzes Buzzfeed offers are endless and range from anything to everything. They’re as addicting as candy. You will get lost in them and you will not see the clock pass by as you continue to feed your addiction to see what percentage bitch you are.

Play old video games

Dust off that Gamecube. Revisiting childhood games are the best. Especially when they’re long and if you lost your memory card. There is no turning back now. Go and beat Majora’s Mask again. I dare you. Or compete in a challenging game such as Mario Kart: Double Dash with your best friends. They won’t be your best friends after the Grand Prix.

Walk from Livingston to Cook/Douglass

Adventure time. The campuses really aren’t that big. You can do it. See how long it’ll take you. If walking isn’t your thing, take a bike, longboard, etc… but avoid the bus and the car. This is truly a thing meant to take you all day.

Binge watch everything

Game of Thrones anyone? Whether alone or with friends, aim for four seasons a day. You’ll be satisfied after watching it all. Maybe even more satisfied when you realized you missed out on catching up on Friends too. Time to binge watch another show.

Try out that new recipe

Setting your house on fire isn’t the goal. Google and Youtube are your best teachers. Learn the ways of a knife to create that perfect stew or learn the difference between baking soda and baking powder as you attempt to bake cookies.

Go to the gym

Don’t let those cookies you just made get to you. Break out a sweat at any nearby recreation center. Learn to lift and swim while you’re at it. It’s not like you have something you need to do.

Plan a last minute Spring Break vacation

Look at all the prices of hotels and tickets and try to find the cheapest one. Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico? Maybe a cruise? Maybe you’ll just visit family in England. Find an excuse to go anywhere. It might break your wallet but hey, college already did that.

Drink up

It’ll help with the sadness of you failing your midterm if you really don’t know what you’re doing.  And don’t do it alone. Gather your sad friends too. You can also celebrate the end of the misery of the middle of the semester. Remember, we’re only halfway there.
