Off-campus fire leaves four students displaced

Three residents are now looking for temporary housing

A two-alarm fire broke out Monday night around 4am in an off-campus house leaving the four residents with no place to stay.

The four students escaped unharmed and the fire was quickly brought under control.

The house at 80 Delafield Street was rented to four Rutgers students, two of whom are members of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity.

One of the residents was senior Finance major Erick Costa, who says the fire is currently under investigation and most likely accidental.

A close friend of the residents says three of them are seeking a place to stay or are considering commuting. The other resident had renter’s insurance that provides a hotel room stay and is taking claims on bigger items.

Fraternity brothers have created a GoFundMe account to raise money to get the students back on their feet.
