Police looking for man who injured Pitt student in a hit-and-run in Oakland

Police are looking for the driver

A 20-year-old female college student was taken to the UPMC Presbyterian hospital after being hit by a car near the intersection of 5th and DeSoto at 7:30 Sunday night. At the time, she is stable and expected to make a full recovery.

The student was walking along 5th before she was struck by a driver who fled the scene, according to city public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler.

According to the Pittsburgh Police, the driver of the vehicle “stopped, walked over to the pedestrian and then returned to his vehicle and fled toward Downtown,” the Pittsburg Post Gazette reports.

Police are working to locate the vehicle and the driver. The driver has been described asĀ  “skinny white male with a beard,” by the police. He was driving a dented red pickup truck with a full cover over the bed of the truck.
