The Standing Rock protesters show us how it’s done

Take notes

On Saturday morning, around 25 protesters stood on the corner of Forbes and Bigelow to protest the Dakota Access Pipeline, an oil pipeline being built on Native American Land.

Most of them were carrying signs.  Some of them read “Defend the Sacred,” “Water is life,” and “Honk for Standing Rock.”  Many drivers showed their support for stopping the pipeline.

We could all learn something from these guys.  Instead of shouting and causing a nuisance, they are showing their beliefs without getting in people’s way.  That is the best kind of protest.  When protesters don’t annoy people, they are more likely to be listened to than ignored.  Future protests on campus should take notes from these people.
