Las Palmas shut down for health code violations

Let’s have a moment of silence

Las Palmas, everyone’s favorite Mexican grocery store, has been forced to temporarily close by the Allegheny County Health Department for “numerous health code violations including an active rat and roach infestation” according to the Post-Gazette.

Other code violations included “malfunctioning refrigeration, holding food at unsafe temperatures, inadequate sanitization and food on the shelves in unsound condition, including chewed open packages of pasta, beans, rice and cookies.”

It is a sad day for Pitt students, as Las Palmas was loved by many. It is our hope that the Mexican grocery will reopen its doors very soon.
