Former Pitt lineman to make WWE debut this week

This is the perfect time to become a WWE fan, thanks to their NXT program. NXT is the WWE’s minor league. NXT has created top wrestlers like Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

And former Pitt lineman, Dan Matha, will be making his debut on NXT this week.

Dan Matha was a successful football player at his high school in Erie, PA. Leaving high school, he was heavily sought after by recruiters from Michigan and West Virginia. Despite being signed to Pitt, he never played a game here due to shoulder injuries and surgeries. Eventually he transferred to Indiana University of Pittsburgh and played division II football. He later worked out with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2013, but he was not offered a contract. But it looks as if he’s found his calling now.

Matha wrestled with Ohio Valley Wrestling before quickly getting the call from WWE. He made his first appearance in the WWE at an NXT house show in Florida. He sounded great on the microphone but did not excite the crowd. He is billed at 6’7 and 300 pounds.

WWE made a teaser video for Matha’s debut. Here it is.
