BREAKING: Penn State could be fined $2.4 million related to Sandusky crimes

The fines come from Clery Act violations

Just a couple months ago, we honored Joe Paterno at a football game.

Today, we’re reminded again of the horrors surrounding the end of his days at Penn State. Just when it feels like the Sandusky-Paterno scandal can be left behind, something like this happens.

The Education Department has levied a fine of $2.4 million for violations of the Clery Act – including crimes related to the Sandusky case.

This is the largest fine in history taken against Penn State. The U.S. Department of Education is trying to fine Penn State for 11 violations, the largest of which is related to the Clery Act.

The Clery Act essentially states that schools which receive federal funding must submit information regarding crimes and safety on campus to the state in the form of an annual security report. Furthermore, universities must offer aid to victims of dating violence, stalking, sexual assault, etc. Sound relevant?

Guess Penn State messed up… again. We are?
