Penn State ranked second most haunted college campus in the nation

And you thought the clowns were scary

Everything is about to get a little spookier in Happy Valley. Penn State was announced as the 2nd most haunted school in America.

Penn State has its own haunted tour around Halloween every year. There are also legends that this university has haunted buildings.

The Stacks in the library are allegedly haunted by Besty Aardsma. Legend says her ghost has been haunting the stacks ever since her untimely and still unsolved murder in the Stacks back in 1969.

The Old Botany building at Penn State is also known to be haunted. Former President George W. Atherton’s wife, Frances Atherton haunted the building after he died to watch over his grave, which is buried across from this building near the Schwabb Auditorium.

According to onlineschoolcenter.com the Penn State Paranormal Society researched this area and found the ghost of Frances Atherton may be in the theater of Schwabb. There is also the ghost of an old janitor in the Old Botany Building.

This Halloween a ghost may be closer to home than we thought. We’ll see how haunted it gets this Halloween. And you thought the clowns were scary…
