Penn Staters will honor JoePa before the Temple game

409 Forever

The Temple game is scheduled for September 17, but this game is going to start off a little differently. Before kickoff, the Nittany Lions will be honoring Joe Paterno on the 50th anniversary of his first game as head coach.

This is the first time Joe Paterno will be officially recognized in Beaver Stadium since his dismissal. While no one is exactly sure what the tribute will entail, it will probably be more elaborate than Penn State fans screaming and cheering as soon as he appears on Jumbo-tron.

There will inevitably be some push back from people outside the Penn State community. But we’re happy to support the most prolific college football coach of all time. 409 forever.

Finally a reason better than just tailgating to get to the dreaded noon kickoff early.
