BREAKING: Brooks Brothers claim USG Election Winners Andrew and Sophie have Violated Election Bylaws

‘These alleged actions took place just hours before voting closed, which we believe was an attempt on their part to have it go unnoticed until the deadline at midnight.’

Andrew Jackson and Sophie Change have won the USG election by receiving 45.8 percent of the vote. In second place was Stephen Post and Lauren Todd at 35.5 percent. In third was Reagan and Reese Brooks at 14 percent.

Minutes after the election the Brooks Brothers campaign released the following statement asking for the disqualification of Andrew and Sophie:
“Since the beginning of this campaign our team has made it clear that we decided to run as outsiders in order to clean up USG and get rid of the junior politicos that were simply looking to add another line to their resume. We took pride in our ability to follow the rules and run an honest campaign. Unfortunately, it came to the attention of our campaign last night that one of our competitors did not place the rules in as high of a regard and intentionally violated several bylaws in the final hours of voting thinking that they could get away with it as well as members of their campaign team lobbing slanderous accusations against us.”

“Last night, March 8, 2017, our campaign team was made aware that members of the Andrew and Sophie campaign were violating USG Bylaws by campaigning in and distributing materials in off-limit locations. These alleged actions took place just hours before voting closed, which we believe was an attempt on their part to have it go unnoticed until the deadline at midnight. In addition, a member of Andrew and Sophie’s team attempted to disseminate libel against our campaign on Twitter.”

“As a result of these charges, we ask that the Judicial Panel impose the maximum fine of $200/violation for the reported violations of which currently stands at four violations. These $800 in fines would result in the Andrew/Sophie slate surpassing the allowed campaign value of $4000 and as such, we are asking for their disqualification.”

“This is not about the USG Election as we have come in third place and even with the disqualification of Andrew and Sophie, we would not assume the office. This is about more than politics. This is about the integrity of the democratic process at Ohio State.”
