Malik Hooker declares for 2017 NFL draft

With two years of eligibility left, Hooker bids Ohio State farewell

In a statement posted on Twitter yesterday, Ohio State starting safety Malik Hooker shared his decision to enter the 2017 NFL draft after two seasons with the Buckeyes.

About a month ago multiple sources reported that Hooker intended to stay with the Ohio State Buckeyes for another season, so his decision to leave may come as a shock to many Ohio State fans—but for others it’s no surprise. During the 2016 season, Hooker ranked second in the nation with 181 interception return yards, racked up 67 tackles which placed him third on the team, and was also named First Team All-Big Ten.

Over the course of his career with the Buckeyes, the sophomore quickly rose to the top as a formidable opponent for any team, showcasing a natural athletic ability and quickly winning the hearts of every Ohio State fan.

Deciding to forgo two more potential years playing for Ohio State isn’t a decision that can be made lightly, but every Buckeye and die hard OSU fan wishes Malik luck with his future.
