Suspect of stabbing attack identified as OSU student

Abdul Razak Ali Artan was a student at Ohio State’s Columbus campus and a Somali refugee

The incident on The Ohio State University campus which occurred this morning has now been confirmed as a knife attack and not a shooting. The suspect drove his car into a crowd of people and then proceeded to stab them with a butcher knife.

The suspect has now been identified as 18-year-old Abdul Razak Ali Artan. He was a student at Ohio State’s Columbus campus and a Somali refugee. He became a permanent resident of the United States after moving here from Pakistan in 2007.

Officer Alan Horujko arrived to the scene of the attack in a minute and shot Artan to death. Artan’s attacks have left nine injured. Police are still speculating on whether or not it was a terrorist attack, but Ohio State Police Chief Craig Stone told NBC News, “This was done on purpose.”
