Ohio State is one of the 50 best universities in the world

We’re here to play school

The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) released its list of the top 1000 universities in the world last week, and our beloved Ohio State University cracked the top 50, at #46.

OSU was one of 11 Ohio universities to make the list, with Case Western Reserve University (#108) and the University of Cincinnati (#165) making the top 200.

Along with being ranked 30th among U.S. universities, Ohio State was the seventh-highest ranked Big Ten school and one of ten in the top 100, proving that the conference can balance both football and academic success.

The rankings from the CWUR were calculated via eight categories that accurately reflect a university’s academic success, weighted by importance. The categories were:

  • Quality of Education (25%)
  • Alumni Employment (25%)
  • Quality of Faculty (25%)
  • Publications (5%)
  • Influence (5%)
  • Citations (5%)
  • Broad Impact (5%)
  • Patents (5%)

Globally, Ohio State ranked 82nd, 101st, and 57th in the top three categories.

So as we approach the beginning of another fall semester, we can take pride in how our academic success is being viewed, even when it’s not apparent to us in the moment.
