We asked incoming students why they chose NYU

‘Weird, outgoing people’

Weekend on the Square was a time for free swag, networking, residence hall tours, and, for a lucky few, free Palladium brunch. I also asked several incoming students the following:

  1. Why did you choose NYU?
  2. What are you looking forward to doing on move-in day?
  3. What is something you want your classmates to know about you?

While many answers were standard fare, there were some interesting ones.

Why did you choose NYU?

NYU has been the closest thing I’ve had to a dream school since middle school. I’ve always wanted to pursue musical theater, and NYU (and NYC) is really the best place in the country, if not the world, to do this. I’ve always been attracted to cities because they’re a convergence of culture, education, and opportunity that you can’t find anywhere else. It’s a thriving place where all kinds of people can express themselves and learn from both the school and the city.

What are you looking forward to doing on move-in day?

Meeting my roommate.

What is something you want your classmates to know about you?

One of my hobbies is waiting outside pet stores in the hope that dogs will come out and I can pet them. I pet every dog I see. I make a lot of puns and I’m often sarcastic.
