Your last minute guide to Halloween shopping in New York

Avoid all-in-ones, expect queues

Halloween has arrived, but a lot of people don’t seem to be ready.

New Yorkers take Halloween really seriously, and finding the costume that is both witty and makes you look good is the holy grail.

It’s not too late.

Here are a few tips that might help you with your shopping…

Make a list

Making a list of all the things you need to make up your costume will increase the efficiency of your last minute Halloween shopping.
Given how late you have left, it, expect long lines. It’s useful to make a list of things that you can divide between you and a friend and get out of that over-crowded shop as fast as you can.
The list also reminds you that “YOU HAVE TO LOOK HOT AF”.

Don’t buy the full, all-in-one costumes

One size does not fit all and they are always ridiculously over priced.

Bring a small bag, not a backpack

The aisles in these stores tend to be very narrow even without the mountains of costumes so I advise that you don’t have a backpack to limit the amount of knocking over of costumes and general chaos and havoc.
Trust me, I learned the hard way.

Costumes that are culturally appropriating are probably not the best idea
