There is a mumps outbreak at Mizzou

The university has confirmed four cases

There is an outbreak of mumps on campus after a number of student have fallen ill.

Four cases of mumps have been confirmed and a further five students are being tested as a result of the outbreak.

All of the students involved have received their proper vaccines for the mumps.

The symptoms of mumps are often unnoticeable but the most common sign of the disease is glands swelling underneath the jaw.

The disease spreads through coughing, sneezing, sharing drinks and touching objects with unwashed hands.

The university has reported that students with the confirmed cases of mumps have been asked to stay home and not attend class. Those with cases being investigated have also been asked to stay away from classes too.

The health care center is urging anyone who is feeling like they have the symptoms to schedule a same day appointment.
