Michigan students responded to anti-Islam messages in the best way

‘Stop hate’

On Wednesday, the message “Stop Islam” appeared on the Diag in chalk, along with pro-Trump graffiti, messages supporting building a wall on the Mexican border, and more.

News of the graffiti spread quickly, sparking debate about Islam, and, when the police were called, freedom of speech.

On Friday morning, another message appeared in the same spot, but this time it said something a little different.

A group of anonymous students wrote “stop hate” and “embrace diversity” in chalk across the Diag, turning the event into a powerful statement about inclusivity and standing up to hatred.

Well done, my fellow Wolverines, whoever you are.
