Footballin’ on a budget

Student bookstore breaking the bank? Butchered your old State shirt a little too much? In need of cute Sparty gear that will still leave you with enough change in the bank for the Uber home?

We are in the midst of tailgate season, where every Saturday is a new runway. Finding that perfect tailgate look is too stressful, not to mention expensive.

But stress no more, my fellow Spartans. After bringing you the best tailgate looks, we're gonna tell you how to football on a budget.

Facebook groups

There are a ton of Facebook groups and pages full of MSU alumni and students selling their Spartan gear at a discount. I found MSU "vintage" t-shirts, which turned out to be great for cutting up. Half-off hand-me-downs? Yes, please! Check Facebook garage sales, pages and groups to stay up-to-date on the sales.

Your friend's closet

Friends are always the plug when it comes to expanding your green and white clothing selection. Raid their closet – because after all, their clothes are your clothes. Take their MSU fuzzy socks, and oversized State crew necks. After all, that's how friendship works.

Poshmark

Buy and sell fashion on Poshmark, a website and app. Go to the handy-dandy search bar and type in "Michigan State" and viola! Tons of results for MSU shirts, sweatshirts, water bottles, shorts, etc. are available for you.

Tj-Maxx

Are you a Maxxinista? If not, I'm sure you've all heard of this heavenly place. Lucky us, there is one right off campus in Lansing, so all you have to do is drive on over and shop 'til you drop. The activewear sections are full of Spartan apparel for men and women. From Sparty leggings and sweatshirts, to State blankets and mugs, the Maxx is the place to go.

Second-Hand Stores

You can always recycle by going to your nearest Salvation Army, Goodwill and Plato's Closet. Finding old State shirts and cutting them up can turn into something awesome. No matter what, you can't go wrong with green and white! Go State!
