University receives vague threats to athletic events

The threats are still under investigation

In the last week, the university received several letters that made threats against MSU athletic events. The letters were vague, containing no specific information about the event(s) targeted, or the manner of the attacks.

On Friday, both the East Lansing and Michigan State police departments started investigations into the letters. The two departments are operating their investigations in conjunction with each other and several other law enforcement agencies. They are working to find the origins of the letters, and what validity they hold.

In the mean time, the university is taking all precautions that it can. Despite being away this weekend at University of Michigan for football, university officials are reminding students to stay vigilant and be aware.
