Everything we miss about East Lansing during the summer

Because home doesn’t have Rama and Conrad’s and 75,000 people packed into a stadium in green

The sad four months of the year when we all head to our childhood homes, across the country for an internship or across the world for a study abroad trip make you miss East Lansing more and more with each passing day. In honor of only having around 50 days left until many of us move back to the homeland, I decided to make a list of things that you’re looking forward to the most when we get back. (In no particular order)

Spartan football

We have less than two months left until MSU football starts again!! (G bless) We have all hit that point in the summer where we have had our fun but are ready to be back in EL with 75,004 of your closest friends and scream “Go Green” at the top of your lungs.

Rama

Although I am still unable to legally attend the infamous “Rama”, I know many of you are looking forward to the ridiculously cheap pitchers and yummy burgers. Not to mention it’s basically the start of the weekend so crack out your favorite sports team jersey and cheers to the weekend!

EL food

Field house, Los Tres and The Peanut Barrel to just name a couple we have been seriously craved throughout this summer vacation. I am so excited to stuff my face with french fries and enchiladas when I get back.

Drunk EL food

This needs to be a separate category by itself. Conrad’s, Mena’s and Cottage Inn are always there after a crazy night out. Be prepared to ingest around 1000 calories and carbs with the mac and cheese bites but lets be honest, most of us can’t even resist them when we are sober, let alone when we are intoxicated.

Being with your friends again

I am so excited to be back with my friends who live out of state! The friends you create when you are away at college are some of the closest friends you will ever have in your life. To my friends, you know who you are, I can’t wait to see you and make more memories!

Social events

Aint no party like a Spartan party! Yeah you may have had some get togethers with high school friends but we all know that you have more fun in EL. Contrary to popular belief, MSU students are actually incredibly smart and hardworking but don’t get us fooled, we play hard too.

Your roommate(s)

The people we pick to be our roommates during the most stressful eight months of the year are some of the most important people in our lives. They aren’t just your friends, they are your very best friends that you can live with, laugh with and do life with. I can’t wait to be with all 53 of my roommates (I’m living in a sorority house) because we are going to make amazing memories and have a phenomenal year.

Tailgates

God bless tailgates. When else in your life are you going to be able to put cute clothes on and start drinking at 8am? Probably never. Not only does EL turn into a giant party on Saturdays in the fall, but after the tailgates you get to go watch some of the best collegiate football in the country.

Dairy Store ice cream

There is no other ice cream like Dairy Store ice cream. And can we take a second to talk about their grilled cheeses? Being able to pick your choice of handmade cheese and MSU Bakers bread makes it even better!

The views

From wherever you stand on campus you can look around  and see some of the best views in the state of Michigan. Especially in the fall, the leaves change colors and make campus even more stunning.
