Palm Beach is literally paradise, and here’s proof

‘Picturesque’ doesn’t even begin to describe it

Other than proximity to the water, Florida is known for its overpopulated cities, intense humidity and outrageous headlines. Palm Beach, however, gives Florida a good name.

Moving my family there over 20 years ago was probably the best decision my parents have ever made. Growing up anywhere else would be unimaginable, and everyone who lives in the area would agree. This tiny little beach town will always be home.

Visitors and tourists may think all Palm Beach consists of are old rich people, snobby country clubs and Worth Avenue. However, that is definitely not the case. Allow me to introduce to you the real Palm Beach.

The beaches are flawless

There’s nothing quite like the beaches found in Palm Beach. On a good day, usually in late May or early June, the water is so clear and blue that you’d assume you’re in the Bahamas or another tropical locale. Growing up, we would spend countless days at the beaches, never wanting to leave. Our parents would literally force us to pile on sunscreen because we’d never get tired of being in the sun all day. The best part is that the beaches are usually completely secluded and devoid of people and tourist traps — unless you go to Flagpole, but who does that?

Palm Beach food is both hyper-trendy and delicious

As someone who never misses a meal and is always wondering what I’ll eat next, I live for good food. There are tons of amazing restaurants around town that make it impossible to ever want to stay in. The ultimate go-to in the morning for breakfast is be Amici Market for a delicious and super trendy acai bowl — great for your body and your Instagram feed. They never get old. For lunch and dinner, there’s something for every craving. Echo is a personal favorite restaurants for whenever I’m craving sushi…and that’s most of the time.

The Lake Trail is the ultimate hidden gem

Any local would understand why the Lake Trail is so amazing. Basically, it’s a bike pathway that extends the entire length of the island but has an amazing view of the inter-coastal waterway. You can bike, run, skateboard, etc. The best memories, though, are about just walking to places with friends or simply watching the sunsets.

Worth Avenue is basically a movie come to life

Even though many Palm Beach locals are rarely walking around Worth (except to eat), it is still one of the most iconic parts of Palm Beach. Filled with amazing restaurants and designer shops, it is a prime destination for tourists and visitors. It is also one of the most beautiful streets in town and it never gets tiring to see. Los Angeles has nothing on Palm Beach.

Everyone knows each other — which can be a good or bad thing

It’s hard to go any place on the island and not run into at least one person you know. I can’t remember the last time I went to Publix and didn’t see an old classmate or neighbor. Here, you know everyone a little too well and if you don’t know them specifically, you’ve definitely heard of them. You are basically considered family to all of your friends parents — even ringing their door bell feels weird because you usually just walk right in.

Every place has a downside, and Palm Beach is no exception. Maybe its the lack of seasons. Maybe its the grumpy older population who really dislike teenagers. Drawbacks aside, it’s hands-down the best place to have grown up. I will always consider Palm Beach home.
