Breaking: Protest in Harrisonburg to fire city employee

The crowd is chanting, ‘hey hey, ho ho, Ergenbright has got to go!’

Protesters have been outside Harrisonburg City Hall since Wednesday to protest Gene Ray Ergenbright‘s employment, a part-time employee of both Augusta county and Harrisonburg City. Chanting, “hey hey, ho ho, Ergenbright has got to go!”, the group says they’ll “stay as long as it takes.”

According to WHSV, an email was allegedly sent from Ergenbright’s “Harrisonburg city email account to someone in Augusta County” that contained “a Hitler emoji” in reference “to a gay Nexus employee and an African-American employee.”

The city released a statement to WHSV that they were “in the process of investigating and properly addressing” the issue and that “no further information regarding any actions taken will be released.”
