Some inspiration to get you through finals week

Here are some bible verses to motivate you

As we prepare to face the trials and tribulations of the week that stretches us farther than we knew we could go, we’re going to need a little support along the way. Hopefully these words of encouragement will help you to conquer your finals week in strength and faith.

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength”

Finals are an unfortunate necessity of college that many of us probably wish didn’t exist. When weakness prevails draw your strength from the Lord. There is absolutely nothing on the face of the earth that is not within reach of those who rely on God. Through Him, we do not simply accomplish “some” or “most” of what we aspire to do, but we can do all things. No final is too great for our incredible God to master.

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”

Know that you are held in the firm grasp of our Lord, who brings peace amidst the most difficult situations. Take a moment to stop, breath, and pray. Talk to the God who calms raging seas and moves mountains just to show us His everlasting love. Finals week is crazy, but God brings peace that sustains. It may seem nearly impossible to live without worry during the most stressful week of the semester, but have faith in the fact that the Prince of Peace has not, and will not ever leave you.

Philippians 3:14 “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus”

It’s easy to get overwhelmed in the storm of flashcards, final projects and study guides that make you lose sight of what the point of all this torture is. God knew about each and every test before you had even begun the class, and he has a purpose in every one of them. God doesn’t simply sit idly by as we wander around aimlessly, he rewards us for all of our efforts. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, so fix your eyes on the one who matters most and you will get there, I promise!

1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing”

No one goes through finals week alone, we are all in this together. By the time our last test rolls around, many of us tend to get a bit cranky and irritable. When stress is high and Starbucks-induced energy begins to fade, it’s important to lift each other up as much as possible. Stay positive and encourage your friends, because if we all have to suffer we might as well make the most of it.

Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”

Lets face it, multiple finals crammed into one week is intimidating. Take it day by day, and focus on one task at a time. No one can do twenty things at once, take a step back and worry about today; the rest will fall into place. Work hard now and put forth your best effort, don’t worry about the result of the test tomorrow because God already has that planned out.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths”

Often times when life gets crazy I try to do everything myself, trusting in my own abilities. That doesn’t usually work out too well, because without Christ as my rock and backing, all of my efforts are worthless. No, do not stop studying for your finals (that’s kind of important), but do ask the Lord to guide and keep you throughout the process. Even if studying for a class seems totally and utterly hopeless, God is there to help you through it and already has a solid path laid out for you, all you have to do is trust him and walk onto it in faith.

Isaiah 43:2 “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you”

It is amazing just how truly faithful and loving our God really is. He is with us while we work in the library, as we take much needed study breaks, enter into the death trap that is our final, and very single moment in between. Not only will He never leave us, He is within us. If there is ever a time when the stress feels too overbearing and you feel as if you can’t do it anymore, remember the fact that a God mighty enough to create the heavens and the earth actually resides peacefully inside of you, He is a part of you. He is the ultimate source of strength and encouragement that will never let you fail.

Finals are awful, but we’ve got a pretty cool God who’s ready to face them with us.  So leave the worrying and stress to Him, he’s got your back.
