Dr. Shirley Collado is the new Ithaca College President

She is the first female, president of color at IC

Today, the Presidential Search Committee announced they voted unanimously for Dr. Shirley Collado to be IC’s ninth president.

Dr. Collado comes from Rutgers University as the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer.

She went to Vanderbilt University for her Bachelor’s and received her Master’s and Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at Duke University.

Born in Brooklyn, Shirley came from a family of Dominican migrants.

“It is a tremendous honor to be standing in front of you all today as the ninth president…Ithaca College is a college I feel has a promising future,” the new IC president told the community.

Dr. Collado will begin her tenure position starting July 1.
