I became an ordained minister in just three minutes and now I want to marry you

I just really love weddings

I love weddings. I always have. It’s just a time full of magic, love, hope and beauty. Call me “lovey dovey” but every time I get invited to weddings, my heart melts.

I’ve only been a part of a wedding once when I was seven years old ( I think). I was the flower girl for my mother’s best friend’s wedding and I wore a pretty, pink dress. But instead of flowers, I threw rice because that supposedly means ‘good luck’.  I think it’s an ethnic thing if you ask me.

Ever since then, I wanted to be part of a wedding again but the time never came…until now.

As of Sunday evening, I became an ordained minister under the congregation of the Universal Life Church

It all happened in just three minutes

Now, I’m ready to start officiating weddings for couples who are madly in love. However, I’d like to note that I prefer fall and winter weddings because the time is perfect, and it’s also during the holiday season – but that’s just my preference.

I was mainly inspired by the show “Friends” where Joey became an ordained minister to officiate the wedding of two of his best friends – Chandler and Monica. I thought that was funny and pretty cool, so I felt like it was time I do it, too.

I am now formally offering to marry people, and this is how I’d do it:

I’ll make sure to look my best with my white dress and veil. But if you are looking for someone outgoing, flexible, outspoken and who LOVES weddings, then look no further because you should go ahead and contact me. If you want a sneak peak of what I would say, here it is:

“We are gathered here today on this joyous occasion to celebrate the special love that ____and ____ share. It is a love based of giving and receiving as well as having and sharing. And the love that they give and have is shared and received. And through this having and giving and sharing and receiving, we too can share and love and have… and receive. When I think of the love that these two givers and receivers share, I cannot help but envy the lifetime ahead of having and loving and giving…and receiving.”
Okay, this is actually Joey’s draft speech but I promise it will be perfect (I’m a journalism major, so duh).
