Everything you need to know about Chris Soules’ arrest

The former Bachelor star is not allowed to leave the state of Iowa without written consent from a judge

During the early hours of Tuesday, April 25, former Bachelor star Chris Soules was arrested at his home in Arlington, Iowa after rear-ending a tractor and killing the driver in the late evening the night before.

The accident happened at about 8:20 PM when Soules, 35, was driving along County Road W45 in Buchanan County, Iowa. Here he rear-ended a tractor driven by farmer and Vietnam war veteran Kenneth Mosher, 66.

According to the 911 call made by Soules, both vehicles landed in a ditch next to the road. Mosher was unresponsive. The 911 dispatcher asked if Soules knew how to perform CPR on Mosher. Soules responded “No, I don’t,” and can be heard asking if anyone present at the scene knows CPR. It is unknown who exactly Soules was addressing. The 911 dispatcher told Soules she could walk him through CPR, to which Soules responded that he would call the dispatcher back.

Shortly after, Soules reportedly fled the scene in an unknown vehicle, leaving behind his pick up truck and an unresponsive Mosher. Upon the arrival of an ambulance, Mosher was rushed to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, Iowa where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities proceeded to interview eyewitnesses in order to identify Soules as the other driver and obtain a warrant for his arrest.

Soules was arrested at his home in Arlington, Iowa at 1:16 AM on a Class D felony charge for allegedly leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Authorities say that although containers of alcoholic beverages were found in Soules’ pickup truck at the scene of the accident, he was not charged with being under the influence at the time of the crash.

Soules’ mother posted $10,000 bail for his release early Tuesday morning.

Soules has a preliminary hearing set for May 2, 2017. If convicted, he could spend up 5 years in prison, according to Iowa law.
