Places you can go on Spring Break for the price of your textbooks

Disney World here I come

The average college student spends $655 a year on textbooks. Have you ever thought about all of the other things you could actually spend that money on? Since it’s Spring Break, here’s a full list of places you can go with all of the money you would be spending on textbooks. Next year, you might just be better off not buying any textbooks, and spending it on a great trip instead. Not like we really use them anyways, right?

Let’s go to the beach

If you decide to go to the beach with all the money you saved on textbooks, you can find a comfortable Airbnb along the beach and relax. Airbnbs at different beaches throughout Florida start at about $80 per night, but if you go with a group a friends, you’ll definitely bring that price down. The rest of your money can be used towards gas, nightlife, souvenirs, and fun things, like jet ski tours, parasailing, etc. If you stay for 3 to 5 nights, the total cost will be around $400, which leaves you with about $200 to (maybe) buy textbooks with the following semester.

The Most Magical Place on Earth

If you’re looking to have a genuinely fun Spring Break, you can head to Disney World. If you’re a Florida resident, you’ll get about a $15 discount on park tickets. If not, tickets are most likely going to be around $100. You can use the rest of your money towards staying at one of the awesome Disney resort hotels, buying a whole lot of souvenirs and (if you’re 21) drinking around the would at Epcot. The trip will probably cost you around $600, so make sure to spend wisely if you don’t want to go over your textbook budget.

Day trips

If you would rather not stay at a hotel or an Airbnb, take a day trip. You won’t spend that much money if you visit a small town like St. Augustine, FL. You can go on Ghost Tours, visit the St. Augustine Fort, tour the lighthouse, shop or just relax at the beach. Day trips are like taking week long trips, but without the stress of planning where to stay and can be just as enjoyable as a week vacation. Not only are they a lot less stressful, but they’re a whole lot cheaper too.

Cruises

If you’re looking for an all inclusive trip, Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise lines offer cruises beginning at $399. If you’re 21, you can add on an all you can drink package and split it with your friends, so it wouldn’t be as expensive. Cruises will also take you somewhere interesting and tropical like the Bahamas and Mexico, so it’s like a bunch of mini vacations all-in-one. Beware, cruises can get sort of pricey, so make sure you have plenty of money in your textbook budget if you plan on taking one.

Next semester, make sure to stop and think if you’re really ever going to take the textbook out of the plastic before you drop $600. You can probably spend it on a great vacation instead.
