Your ultimate guide to Valentine’s Day in Tallahassee

Love is (about to be) in the air

For a lot of couples, Valentine’s Day can be even more stressful than Christmas or even meeting your bae’s parents. That’s probably due to the hype that revolves around Valentine’s Day since it’s supposed to be the most romantic day of the year. If you are stressing about where to take your significant other, or finally planning on asking your crush out, don’t worry! Here’s your go to Tally Valentine’s Day guide.

Start at Alfred B. Maclay Park and Botanical Gardens

If you are head over heels in love with your date and want to spend the whole day with them, start your day off with going to Alfred B. Maclay Park. Here, nature is evident and flowers are always blooming. It’s the perfect way to take a lot of pictures and actually talk to each other. If you plan on going to dinner afterwards, walking around the park is a great way to work up an appetite. If you aren’t going to dinner afterwards, you can head over to Lucky Goat for some coffee with your date or have your friends meet for an impromptu “Galentine’s”.

Make your way to Midtown for a romantic dinner

What’s Valentine’s Day without a romantic dinner? Well, according to every romantic comedy I’ve ever seen, it’s just not Valentine’s Day. So, to start off the night, head to Midtown and stop for a delicious and romantic dinner at Table 23. I highly recommend sitting outside where the lights are, because what is more romantic then string lights in a huge tree? It also makes for a perfect photo-op for the ‘gram. As far as the food goes, I recommend the boiled peanut hummus and the reuben, they’re ridiculously good.

Looking for something more low-key? Head to Collegetown instead

If Table 23 doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, another great place to try for dinner would be Centrale in Collegetown. It’s just about a 15 minute walk from FSU, which makes it a great option for those living on or near campus. Since Collegetown is up and coming, this restaurant perfectly fits in with the area. Here, perfect snap stories of your authentic Italian food can be taken and cause everyone else’s mouths to water.

After dinner drinks are always a move

If dinner is not your scene or if you want to keep the night alive, then I suggest going to Township or Madison Social after. Since both are located in Collegetown, you could easily go to both. If you’re looking for some sort of bonding activity, then you can head over to Madison Social and try to complete the drinking card together and win an awesome shirt for your date. That way, they’ll have something to remember their special Valentine’s Day.

Township, on the other hand, is more of a bar environment. So, if you are looking for a relaxing night out (like a place that isn’t Coli or The Strip), then I suggest heading out to Township. If you eat dinner somewhere and decide to go get drinks afterwards, Township is the place to go. You’ll be able to continue the date over some casual beers.

If all else fails, Netflix and Chill

My last option for all of you lovebirds out there is to Netflix and Chill. I understand we’re all on a budget in college, so why not just have a night in watching your favorite movie and some fire takeout? When you and your significant other have a night in, there’s no pressure to make the night as romantic as every movie makes it out to be. You both can sit in your pjs, have a Netflix marathon and eat ice cream out of the tub. It’ll just be a normal, relaxing night, where nothing else matters but being with each other.
