Seminoles extend Jimbo’s contract through 2024

The impact he has made in seven seasons is undeniable

In College Football, nothing is more crucial to a program’s success than their Head Coach. Florida State fans that witnessed Bobby Bowden at the helm for 33 years can attest to the luxuries of having a coach committed for the long haul.

When Bowden departed from the team, no one could’ve hoped for someone with his level of commitment. Here we are seven winning seasons later, and fans can finally rejoice again. Jimbo Fisher has been extended through 2024 as the Head Coach at FSU. Headed into the Orange Bowl against Michigan, this couldn’t come at a better time for ‘Noles fans. Fisher holds an impressive 77-17 record and nothing is more satisfying than putting the rumors of his departure to rest. In the wake of the huge news, fans around campus are buzzing.

FSU student Samuel Jacobs pointed out how the constant rumors of his departure further reveal how desirable Jimbo Fisher can be on the coaching market.

“Every time a big coaching opportunity opens up in the NCAA, Florida State must respond. Whether it is LSU, Texas or Florida, we have to show Jimbo our commitment to him. That just means we have a fire coach.”

Maybe the most surprising aspect of the contract extension is that Jimbo was given a chance to take over such a coveted program at LSU. Sophomore Esteban Cabrera thought Fisher “would be very intrigued in leaving for Louisiana State”. ‘Noles fans can officially breathe a sigh of relief.

Student Alex Picard added Jimbo’s choice “looks great for recruits because he wanted to be here instead of go to an SEC school”. His expectations were tempered however as he believes our underperforming coordinators, Charles Kelley and Rick Trickett, should’ve been replaced. Many fans agree with Alex’s sentiments, but we all trust Jimbo to bring out the best in them eventually.

The impact Fisher has made in seven seasons is undeniable. His accomplishments as our Head Coach speak for themselves. He motivates a team like no other, just ask the long list of NFL players he has inspired. Florida State can only hope he will stick around as long as Bobby Bowden. Perhaps no one could’ve said it better than FSU Junior, Austin Sander: “We are going to be relevant for a long time”.
