‘Twas the night before UF’: A hate week poem

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

‘Twas the week before UF and all throughout Tally
Not a student was stirring, not even in Salley.

IDs and outfits were laid out with care
In hopes that their ticket window soon would be there.

The students were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of last year replayed in their heads.

Hoping and praying the team would come through
And deliver us another 27-to-2.

When outside of Doak there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.

When what to my wondering eyes did exist,
But a team of young men clad in gold and garnet.

With a man at the helm we all love and know,
I knew in a moment it was Coach Jimbo.

More rapid than ever his players they came,
He whistled and shouted and called them by name

“On Dalvin, on Francois, on Walker, on Derwin,
On Johnson, on Rudolph, on Whitfield, on Wilson!”

Though a perfect season our ‘Noles did not play
When met with the Gators, our record will stay.

So down to the end zone, the players they flew
With the ball in their hands and a time-out or two.

Over and over, point after point,
Our offense and defense worked finally in joint.

When at last time was up and the clock had run out
The Gators were crying and couldn’t not pout.

Through the uproar and chaos I heard Jimbo exclaim:
“How ‘bout them ‘Noles, what a great game!”

The game it was over, the crowd was alive,
Fans young and old screamed together, “Roll Tribe!”

We can’t wait to celebrate on Saturday night,
So happy UF Hate Week to all, and to all a good night.
