Neo-Nazi Richard Spencer may actually speak at UF after cryptic tweet

‘Florida is happening’

Despite university president Kent Fuchs's strong rebuttal, Richard Spencer is still planning on speaking here at the University of Florida.

The neo-Nazi is most famous for preaching about the advantages of a "white ethno-state", and for getting punched in the face at the Women's March, which looked a bit like this:

When news broke that he would be speaking on September 12, many students and members of the Gainesville community expressed their concern about their safety. In light of Charlottesville and after assessing the risks, Fuchs officially denied the National Party Institute’s request as of three weeks ago. Fuchs has also condemned Spencer’s views as well as the riots in Charlottesville.

However, a tweet by Spencer himself says different. Though CBS4 Gainesville's Twitter stated that Spencer would not be speaking in light of Hurricane Irma, Spencer responded, "Florida is happening. Stay tuned."

The university has yet to release a comment on this statement.
