UF students call for dining hall boycott following cockroach sightings

Students have spotted cockroaches in Broward Dining and Gator Corner

Students are planning to boycott Gator dining after multiple cockroach sightings in Broward Dining and Gator Corner. The existence of cockroaches is calling into question the university’s concern for students’ heath.

The image of a cockroach was posted on the UF Class of 2020 Facebook group with the caption, “Spotted @ Gator Dining. Nowhere is safe guys.”

Many students have expressed their concern for their well-being as well as their likelihood to continue their meal plans. This could potentially have a large effect on the university as they may lose revenue.

Students have even gone as far to post physical signs on the dining windows:

The boycott is allegedly supposed to come into effect Tuesday and has the hashtag “#GatorDiningDropout.”

UF student Josh Kickhoefer posted about the boycott on Facebook saying that with this dropout “we should all agree in solidarity to not step foot in either Broward Dining or Gator Corner to send a message that they must improve.”

The Tab has reached out to UF for a comment.
