Liberation rally to be held in response to Swastikas on campus

We’ve seen two incidences of hate symbols at Turlington Plaza in the past few days

In the wake of recent events at UF, specifically Tuesday’s spotting of a man wearing a swastika armband, and today’s spotting as well, students are holding a UF Liberation rally.

The event will be held on January 27, the same day as the liberation of Auschwitz and the United Nations Holocaust remembrance day.

Students are outraged and taking action to stand in solidarity with those who stand with any victims of a hate crime.

Tyler Ellman, the founder of the event stresses, “permeating light with darkness and embracing the rebel within us all,” to resist hate and violence, and ultimately unite students.
