Saturday’s Florida vs. LSU game postponed

The University of Florida vs. Louisiana State University annual football game has been postponed due to Hurricane Matthew.

The SEC released a statement with the announcement.

“We have to be sensitive to the possible imminent disruption to the state of Florida and in particular the Gainesville and surrounding area.” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey.

This is the game that Tomi Lahren and Donald Trump Jr. were set to attend and livestream.

There has been no announcement yet for the date the game will take place.

Due to the severity of Hurricane Matthew, UF also canceled classes from 3pm today and all day Friday.

Florida governor Rick Scott has declared a state of emergency in 26 counties across the state.

Shelters are opening today:

  • Senior Center (for special needs populations) opened at 11 a.m: 5701 NW 34th Blvd.
  • Rawlings Elementary (for general population) opens at 5 p.m.: 3500 NE 15th St.
  • Easton Newberry Sports Complex (for general population) opens at 5 p.m.: 24800 NW 16th Ave. in Newberry
  • Reitz Union
