Cynthia Nixon, Barnard ’88, is running for NY governor

Such a Miranda thing to do

Cynthia Nixon, the Barnard grad and actress known for her role as Miranda in Sex and the City announced yesterday afternoon that she is running for the governorship of the state of New York. Nixon, who will run against current governor Andrew Cuomo, would become both first openly gay and the first female governor.

Nixon is an ardent opposer of President Trump and published an op-ed on CNN critiquing the status quo, writing: "For those of us who value equal rights for all, or economic and racial justice, or want to combat climate change, we've taken huge steps backwards."
