Stop violence against women in Latin America

Lucía Pérez, 16, died 10 days ago in a hospital in the coastal city of Mar Del Plata in Argentina. She was abducted outside of her school, drugged and gang raped. Her aggressors washed her to cover up their traces and dumped her at the hospital. Cause of death: severe internal bleeding.

In the last 18 days, 19 Argentine women have died as a result of violence against women. This type of violence is a growing problem in Latin America. Today, thousands of Argentines demonstrate all over the country to raise awareness and demand change. Solidarity marches have also been organized worldwide in cities like São Paolo, Santiago de Chile and Paris, among others.
