An ode to Management 101 surveys

Come on, you know you love them

There’s nothing quite like Bucknell in the fall: the changing of the leaves, the picture-perfect weather, and the endless requests to fill out Management 101 surveys.

While to some- the surveys may be pesky and unappealing, to others they’re a blast. Management 101 surveys are more than just a list of questions- they’re a way of life.

They make you feel popular

Nothing makes you feel better and more popular than peeking at your phone in the middle of class and seeing you have 6 unanswered Facebook notifications. Though you may be disappointed (after class ends-of course) when you actually check the notifications to find that they’re just your friends posting about their surveys in your “Class of 2019” group, you still had that split second of pure joy.

There’s no better activity when you’re trying to fall asleep

It’s 2am. You’ve been trying to fall asleep for the past three hours. None of your friends are answering your dog-filtered snapchats.

What do you do?

You open Facebook, scroll into your “Class of 2019” Facebook group and click on the first “Hi everyone, could you please take our super quick survey?” post you see.

Before you long, you find yourself in Management 101 Survey – induced bliss.

They’re like online shopping without the commitment

Everyone loves scrolling through online shopping sales, clearance, etc. But no poor college student actually enjoys paying for things.

Taking a Management 101 survey, however, you get to scroll through endless possible products, select the ones you like, but only have to pay for it you chose to purchase it in the ELC weeks later.

They’re progressive

Let’s say you just really loved one of Company C’s long sleeve shirt designs and voted for it excitedly in the survey at 2am.

Two weeks later, you find Company C has released a second survey. Now, you get the excitement of seeing if your design you so passionately voted for has made it through to the second round. And if not, you can redirect your passion (or heartbreak) into the new design they’ve put out.

They’re automatic

Most likely, the first couple of questions within any Management 101 survey are similar to the first questions of any other Management 101 survey of the same ilk: What year are you? Are you student, staff, etc? While it may seem that it’s annoying to answer the same thing over and over again, the reality is- the more you take them, the more clicking the answer to those questions becomes automatic, and the faster you can get to the true meat of the survey.

They revive your school spirit

As if bison weren’t great enough already- what better than a pair of bison boxers to wear at the upcoming basketball games? And who knows- with boxers like these, maybe the winning team won’t be the only ones getting lucky.

Next time you’re stuck, awake at 3am, do your part to help out a couple fellow students and fill out a Management 101 survey.

Because, truly, what would Bucknell be without them?
