Bucknell had 541 liquor law violations in 2015

But fortunately, there were no murders

Today, Bucknell released its Annual Security and Fire Safety report. The report outlines Bucknell’s policies on reporting and handling everything from daily crime to sexual assault to fire emergencies.

Also included in the report are statistics, reporting the number of various crimes and incidents on campus over the past three years. A quick scroll through the report allows for an analysis of the trend of crime on campus, where we see an increase in the number of reported rapes, and liquor law violations.

The number of liquor law violations (arrests) increased from 20 to 30 in 2104 and 2015, respectively. The number of liquor law violations (referred for disciplinary action), however, increased dramatically since 2014, growing from 281 to 541.

In 2014, Bucknell had a reported number of 10 rapes on Bucknell’s campus. In 2015, this number increased to 14.

Similarly, the reported number of fondlings, “the touching of the private body parts of another person for the purpose of sexual gratification, without the consent of the victim,” decreased from seven in 2014 to four in 2015.

Reported drug law arrests decreased from three arrests in 2014 to one arrest in 2015, but drug law violations (referred for disciplinary action) increased form 62 to 78 in 2015.

Fortunately for Bucknell students, both burglary and arson have decreased on campus. Burglary reports decreased from six incidents in 2013 to zero in 2015. Similarly, arson decreased from one incident in 2013 to zero in 2015.

Reported incidents of dating violence increased from 12 in 2014 to two in 2015.

And as a testament to the Bucknell community, there were no reported hate crimes in 2015.
