At least weed is legal now

Light one up for the future of this country

Proposition 4 was passed yesterday legalizing recreational marijuana. Just under 54 percent of voters were in favor of the proposal.

Prop 4 allows those above the age of 21 to possess, use, and grow marijuana. Those of age are allowed to have up to ten ounces of marijuana at home and one in public. Massachusetts residents are also allowed to grow up to six plants in their homes.

Legalization is set to take effect on December 15.

Opponents to Prop 4 included Governor Charlie Baker, Mayor Marty Walsh, and Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey.

California has also passed recreational marijuana.

In passing this proposals, Massachusetts and California join Alaska, Colorado, District of Columbia, Oregon, and Washington state in the road to  legalization.

The tax on marijuana is estimated to bring in millions of dollars in state revenue while an estimated 26,000 jobs will be created.
