The definitive hangover map of BU

A guide to the best recovery day you never asked for

It’s a Sunday morning and you just had the best weekend you’ll never remember, but from your snapchat story it seems like you had the wildest night of your life. Now its near 11 a.m and your head feels like it’s gone through a washing machine and your stomach needs food, and needs it now. No, the pizza and french fries you ate from T Anthony’s last night does not count as nutrition.

Before you leave, take a shower to rinse off this weekend’s sins and put on some casual, comfortable clothes. This day’s for you, my friends.

First stop: Coffee

Blue State Coffee, next to West Campus, has an awesome laid-back vibe that won’t be too much to handle for your first stop away from bed. The place has a very patriotic aesthetic that makes you feel part of a community rather than isolated in your hangover. My recommended order is ‘Espresso #9’ because of its chocolate accents. The coffee is delicious and tasty every time, and as tempting as food may seem right now, hold off because that’s coming up next.

Second stop: Food

Pavement Coffeehouse has the best food options for breakfast and lunch. The music always has an alternative vibe with mellow tones so it won’t bother your still aching head. If you dare get another cup of coffee, I’ll forewarn you that this coffee is very strong and will probably only be suitable for the connoisseurs of the drink. For food, I’d get their homemade jelly with cream cheese on a toasted sesame bagel. It’s pretty filling and always oozing with extra jelly. The bread is also sure to help with that nausea you’re feeling.

lunch food at Pavement is also a solid choice

If you want something more to-go, Rhett’s is the place for you. Located in the GSU, Rhett’s has the most beautiful breakfast sandwiches and burgers. The burgers are stuffed with an insane amount of toppings to your choosing while the breakfast sandwiches are as large as you’d like them to be (the cheese even drips down the side of the bagel). Whether you decide on lunch or breakfast, this meal is sure to satisfy you.

Third stop: Smoothies

Get your antioxidants in by getting Jamba Juice. Here you can get a smoothie with extra vitamins or protein mixed in. It may have been fun poisoning yourself with all those toxins, but it’s time to cleanse them out of your system.

This step is crucial in knocking your hangover out. Plus, you just walked all around campus for coffee and grub so you deserve this refreshing drink.

Final stop: Lounge it out

Go to the COM lawn to relax your hangover away. You can find appropriate shade from the sun while still enjoying the outdoors. Some may disagree since the BU Beach is the hot spot for relaxation, but it’s too hyped up for my liking. It’s always packed and there’s bound to be people playing sports or being too loud. Do you really want loud college kids around while you’re trying to nurse yourself back to health? I didn’t think so. The COM lawn is the place to go, and there’s benches if you want to tan or trees you can lean against while you napping or reading.

So there you have it. The map of the most necessary spots on campus to hit for your Sunday hangover. All in walking distance, accessible and affordable, just for you. Now that you’ve read this article, get out of your bed, do your laundry, and seriously, take a shower.
