BU ranked in the top one percent of universities in the world

Are you surprised though?

If you’re wondering why you’ve already been hit with loads of work this first week of school, we may have your answer.

According to the QS World University Rankings published this week, BU is ranked as the 89th best university, standing in the top 1 percent of universities in the world. Nearly 4000 colleges were analyzed and only the top 1000 were ranked, not to mention the thousands of other universities not even considered. BU also holds a five star rating in all four categories used by QS to determine the quality of an institution which include Research, Innovation, Facilities and Specialist criteria.

The high scoring “Academic Reputation” also comes as no surprise to us Terriers who are working harder than 99 percent of other college students. Let’s not forget the grade deflation Boston University is famous for (they don’t call us BU for no reason).

If you wanted to find BC on the list, you’ll need some help or else you may be searching all night. Boston College ranked #299, but at least they made the top 300. Perhaps the best part about this ranking over BC is that while our standing went from #91 in 2015 to #89 in 2016, BC dropped from their ranking of #282. Better luck next time.
