State officials are questioning MBTA’s decision to end late night T-service

They believe the MBTA failed to assess the effects of the termination

Things just got complicated with the MBTA’s decision to end late night T-service, starting March 18th.

State officials say the MBTA failed to assess the effect the termination of the service will have on minorities and low income riders.

The MBTA attempted to avoid the federally-mandated report with a waiver. The Federal Transportation Association denied that waiver last week and stated the MBTA must complete the analysis.

Some officials believe the report will not have much impact, and others believe that improvements on the lines used most by minorities will help lessen the difficulties caused by the loss of late night service.

The MBTA has recently sparked outrage of Boston locals and students after they decided to end the late-night service last week andĀ again yesterday when they announced the increase in fare.
